FAQs
I am already talking to my friends, why should I
pay money for a Coach?
There is nothing wrong in talking to your friends
and family, but they will always bring their own life, agenda, beliefs and
current moods with them. You also might not be as forward with them
because you do not want to damage a relationship or step on someone's
toes.
As a coach I am trained to leave all that behind
during our sessions. I am there for you alone. Unconditionally, unbiased.
I am at your side and committed to your success, whatever that is for you
personally at this point in time.
How are you going to "coach" me?
As your coach I will:
-
Listen to you carefully. I will
listen to what you are saying, what you try to say, and even what you
are not saying
-
Be unconditionally supportive
-
Be honest and straightforward
-
Believe in you and that you are
the one person who really knows what is good for you
-
Believe in you when you don't
-
Ask you questions to help you
discover what it is that you really, really want
-
Share with you my advice, ideas,
comments and views on your situation, dilemma or opportunity
-
Ask you
to do some field work until the next session, these will be actions
designed to help you achieve your personal and professional goals
What is required of me?
To get the most out of your coaching session you:
- Need to be available for your coaching session on
time, every time
- Need to be open to new ideas and concepts
- Are free to enjoy our coaching session, even if
we are doing work
- Can help yourself by coming to the coaching call
well prepared
- Need to complete your fieldwork
- Will benefit from a comfortable environment
during your call and where you will not be disturbed
How do I know that I need Coaching?
Well, you need a doctor when you have a broken
leg, but you do NOT need coaching.
You can
achieve what you want all by yourself - but it might be harder, take
longer and in the long run, it might also be more expensive.
You do not hire a coach because you need one,
but because you choose to do so as an investment in your life and
future.
What about Confidentiality?
What happens during your coaching sessions is
completely confidential. I will not disclose any information about
you, e.g. what you are doing, how you are doing and what you have
accomplished.
I will also not disclose
that we are working together in the first place. You are of course
free to tell your friends, but no one will find out from me unless I
have your explicit written permission to do so, e.g. for references.
How do I start?
You have to take the first step. Talk to me. Tell me
what you want and what your questions are. I am sure I can find a way to
be of help, e.g. we can discuss if coaching is the right option for you
at this time. I can also refer you to other colleagues in case you could
benefit more from a coach specialising in another area, e.g. financial
strategies etc.
Where can I get more information about Coaching?
Visit
www.coachfederation.org, the International Coach Federation's
website.
Here you can find all sorts of articles,
especially information about the Code of Ethics as specified by the ICF
that I adhere to.
